One’s diet is highly dependent on where we settle on the globe. But it doesn’t make us healthy; in fact, it’s usually what makes us sick.
Do you think you have a healthy diet?
I am always intrigued by diets. We can make up a rationale for any diet on this planet. I’ve had people tell me you should do the “X” diet—so and so did it and they’re ripped, or they look fantastic. Anyone can lose weight with any diet but does that make it healthy? No, it does not.
There are tremendous amounts of information out there about what is the healthiest diet for the human being.
I do believe the human being is an omnivore. Being an omnivore has helped spread our kind across the planet over the millenniums. Human beings eat anything from whale blubber to radishes, from dog to tuna. One’s diet is highly dependent on where we settle on the globe. But it doesn’t make us healthy; in fact, it’s usually what makes us sick.
Protein. Picture this: A 4-foot 500-pound lion looking up at an elephant that stands 11 feet weighing 13,000 lbs and asking “Where do you get your protein from?” The largest and strongest animals on earth are all plant eaters—elephants, giraffes, gorillas. The gorilla has two massive canine teeth but doesn’t eat meat. We have a much smaller set of canines but it doesn’t mean we are meant to eat meat. We have been conditioned that each meal should contain some sort of meat or dairy. Politics and corporations have made sure over the last 100 years that Americans need their meat. When we eat meat we are getting recycled protein. Think about it.
How to thrive? I firmly believe its through a plant-based diet: fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, beans and berries. This will assure we get enough protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Dr. Joel Fuhrman suggests we use the acronym G-BOMBS (greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, and seeds) for our diet. Not only will this produce an amazing weight loss but will also protect you from, and reverse diseases like cancer, heart disease, and auto-immune diseases. These diseases run rampant in our country. In fact, one in three people can plan to have either cancer or heart disease in their lifetime.
Oh, and if you want some serious energy, plant-based diet is the way to go.
